E1: 31B: Operation - VBT Move Details - P31B66 Does not Consider Fermenting Capacity or Total Container Capacity for Volume Movement When Calculating Actual Volume During BTIP Operation Creation (Doc ID 2985003.1)

Symptoms

During creation of a Barrel Self Topping (BTIP) operation, the material type is changed from ‘fermenting’ to ‘non-fermenting’ and one of the barrels is emptied and the BTIP operation is saved with the After Volume value calculated based on the Ferment Capacity of the barrel type. If the same operation is then re-opened in edit mode and the user takes Edit VBT Detail button to reopen the VBT Movement Details screen, the Actual After Volume is updated with a different value, based on the Total Capacity of the barrel.
This is misleading, because the calculation should be performed correctly, during the initial BTIP operation creation, without the need to re-inquire and re-opening the VBT Movement Details screen twice.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. P31B75P – Find and select the BTIP operation configuration. Copy the BTIP operation to a new Self Topping operation. Navigate to Results tab and set the Material Type for the new Self Topping operation to a Non-Fermenting material type.
  2. P31B08 - Create one tank.
  3. P31B032 - Define a new barrel type for e.g. Container Total Capacity = 216 GA and Ferment Capacity = 172.8 GA.
  4. P31B031 - Define a new Barrel Profile for the above barrel type.
  5. P31B03 - Use the above Barrel Profile to create at least 17 barrels of 216 / 172.8 GA each.
  6. P31B94 – Create a RECV operation for a BOL having the Receipt Quantity = 2863.2 GA and ‘Fermenting’ Material Type.
  7. P31B94 – Create a R2TV operation to receive the previous BOL into the tank defined at step 2. Planned Move Quantity = 2863.2 GA.
  8. P31B94 > P31B87 > P31B66 - Create a T2B operation to receive the quantity from the previous tank into a new VBT. Planned Move Quantity = 2863.2 GA. System suggests attaching 14 barrels.
  9. P31B66 – Once the barrels are added to the VBT, the system calculates Planned After Volume = 2863.2 and Actual After Volume = 2419.2 GA (= 14 barrels x 172.8 GA).
  10. P31B94 > P31B87 > P31B66 - Create BTIP operation and empty the last barrel (# 14).
  11. P31B87 – In Place tab shows the following details for the After Volume:
    - Planned Volume = 2419.2 GA (based on Fermenting Capacity)
    - Actual Volume = 2203.2 GA (= 2419.2 – 216)
    - Planned Barrels = 14
    - Actual Barrels = 13
    Save the operation details.
  12. P31B94 – Select the previous BTIP operation and take Edit Operation button to open it in edit mode.
  13. P31B87 – Take Edit VBT Detail button and open the VBT Movement Details.
  14. P31B66 – The system updates the Actual After Volume to 2808.00 GA (= 13 barrels x 216 GA). This seems to be correct, given the fact that the After material type is ‘non-fermenting’.
  15. P31B87 – the After Volume section shows the Actual Volume = 2808.00 GA, based on Container Total Capacity. The new value of 2808.00 GA should have been saved by the system during creation of the BTIP operation instead of the first calculated value of 2203.2 GA.
