E1: 41: "Cannot Convert UOM Back to Primary" (Error 3349) When Combining Item (P41002) and Standard (P41003) UOM Conversions (Doc ID 2987859.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to call the Standard Unit of Measure Conversion (P41003) program to convert Feet to Inches (FT to IN) from inside an Item Unit of Measure Conversion (P41002) program, while converting Boxes to Feet (BX to FT), the Item Unit of Measure Conversion (P41002) returns the following error:

"Cannot Convert UOM back to Primary" (Error 3349)
CAUSE. . . . . The Related Unit of Measure that you have entered does not have the appropriate entry in the table to show a conversion factor back to the primary unit of measure.
RESOLUTION . . Make an entry in the table that shows the conversion factor of this unit of measure or related unit of measure to the primary unit of measure.

The client is expecting the Item Unit of Measure Conversion (P41002) program to automatically call the Standard Unit of Measure Conversion (P41003) program to convert Feet to Inches (FT to IN), while they are trying to convert BX to FT from inside the Item Unit of Measure Conversion (P41002) program, and then return the result to the Item Unit of Measure Conversion (P41002) program.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Standard Unit of Measure Conversion (P41003) has 1 FT = 12 IN.
  2. Item Master (P4101) Unit of Measure Setup is as follows:
    1. Primary UOM = IN
    2. Secondary = BX
    3. Purchasing = BX
    4. Standard Unit of Measure = Blank (Item Specific UOM).
  3. In Item Unit of Measure Conversions (P41002) attempt to create the following conversion 1 BX = 100 FT and click OK to save.
    1. The Item Unit of Measure Conversion (P41002) program returns the error "Cannot Convert UOM back to Primary" (Error 3349) even though there is a conversion back to primary (1 FT = 12 IN) in the Standard Unit of Measure Conversion Table (P41003).
