Symptoms
Unnecessary 0027 User Defined Code Error in debug log for Homebuilder Lots when running R51444 – Create Journal Entries for Profit Recognition. This only occurs when the ‘Blank’ value has been deleted from Homebuilder UDC 44H4/OT.
Steps:
- Clear Blank value from Homebuilder UDC 44H4/OT
- Submit Profit Recognition File Build (R51800) data selecting on existing Homebuilder Lot jobs for which commitments have been generated and payments have been made.
- This will create F5144 & F5145 records.
- Run Create Journal Entries for Profit Recognition (R51444) Data Selecting on the Next Number values seen in F5144 after running R51800.
- The UDC error will now show in the Work Center for the R51444.
- The Debug log shows the UDC error 0027 multiple times, once for each the Homebuilder Lots submitted in R51800.
For most home building companies, every Option must be defined with a valid Option Type, the blank value is not allowed. It is for this reason the Blank value is removed from UDC 44H4/OT. And after doing so, the R51444 generates the 0027 errors only because this blank value has been deleted from the UDC.
When the R51800 & R51444 are submitted for a large number (hundreds) of Homebuilder Lot Jobs this error is listed multiple times. These 'unneeded' errors make it difficult for users to identify any other errors that are truly in need of action/correction. If there are any actual errors other than this 0027 error, those additional errors will not be caught because no one is going to look through and review hundreds of errors every month to see if there is actually a different error as well. Missing/overlooking other valid errors could lead to incorrect account balances.
