E1: TDA: Table Generation is Using the Object Owner ID to Connect to Central Objects Data Source Leading to Database Password Entry Pop-up and "Unable to Connect to Central Objects - XX920" On-Screen Error (Doc ID 2997374.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 10, 2024

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When trying to generate a table using OMW (Object Management Workbench - P98220), it is trying to connect to the Central Objects data source using the user specified for Object Owner ID present in the Generate Table screen. If that user is not there in the database corresponding to Central Objects data source, it leads to Database Password Entry Pop-up  and  "Unable to Connect to Central Objects - XX920" on-screen error during table generation. If the E1 user continues to click Cancel and OK in those screens for a couple of times, table generation will be successful and "Generation Successful" message will appear on the screen.

As an example, consider the below scenario:

When trying to generate a table in Business Data - TEST, the database pop-up comes up and the jde log indicates that system is trying to connect to Central Objects - DV920 using the system user for Business Data - TEST. Note that this user is not there in DB2 (Central Objects - DV920) and hence it fails to connect.

Here are the messages captured in the jde log:

7492/7184 WRK:Starting jdeCallObject            Thu Nov  2 15:08:06.371001    jdbodbc.c1338

    JDB9900164 - Failed to connect to Central Objects - DV920

Steps to replicate:

  1. Have a setup as mentioned above with different data sources in different databases
  2. Login to the corresponding FAT client
  3. Access OMW using fastpath
  4. Move the table to be generated into a project in 21 status and perform Get
  5. Click on Design-->Table Operations-->Generate Table
  6. Provide the values for Data Source and Password
  7. Click OK
