E1: ENH: Create New 'Report Extension' UDO Which Allows Association With ORCH and LEX (Similar to FORMEXTNS) (Doc ID 3031741.1)

Last updated on JULY 01, 2024

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Just as associating an ORCH/LEX with a form extension by "tapping into" the event rule event flow (dialog initialized, grid record fetched, value changed inline, etc.), requesting the same functionality with reports.
This would allow a way to 'customize' a report without customization.

It would probably involve Oracle creating a new interface on the web client that gives users a "view" of RDA so that they could see the sections of a UBE report, click those, and then tie an ORCH or LEX to the event rules attached to a given section.

With this functionality, users would be able to access variables in a given section to assign to our ORCH/LEXs . . . if a 'hook' was placed in the right spot. Those ORCHs/LEXs could output variables that would become part of the output of the UBE, even if only as fields exposed to BI Publisher (not worried so much about actual display of the fields on a UBE layout).

Without this new functionality, customers have to customize, copy-customize, or use third party tools. This functionality would close the loop on extensibility framework in JDE.
