Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When complete project specific item production work order, the next run of PRP does not consider the project commitment to the parent item work order, when generating messages.  The completed on-hand inventory, shows a project commitment by lot (work order number) or location, but the parent work with the project commitment, still shows a net new replenishment order with the parent work order showing as source of demand.

Steps:

  1. Complete production project subassembly work order to named secondary location.
  2. Verify that the parent work order parts list is updated with the secondary location.
  3. Verify Project Commitments exist, to link the parent work order and the on-hand material quantity.
  4. Rerun PRP with no further changes.
  5. Note that there is an A Allocate Inventory message for the subassembly item with on-hand quantities, but the quantity is already hard committed in the project commitments table, to another work order task.
  6. The work order with the committed quantity shows as the work order source of demand for a net new planned order.  The project committed, quantity on hand, drives C cancel message for the subassembly work order, below a parent work order with unmet requirement.  While the quantity on hand is committed elsewhere.
