E1: 34: Master Planning Schedule - Multiple Plant - R3483 Using Forecast Consumption by Customer Logic Creates Shortage of Supply when There is no Generic Forecast Available (Doc ID 3054802.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When DRP - Master Planning Schedule - Multiple Plant - R3483 is run with Forecast Consumption by Customer and some customer specific forecast is added for the item/branch record, MRP does not plan correctly if there is no generic forecast entered in the system and if there are some existing sales orders created for the Customer Number for which there is no customer specific forecast.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create an item in multiple branches (P4101/P41026). Setup branch relationships (P3403T) and add demand for the item in demand branch.
  2. Run R3483, process all suggested orders including ST/OT orders.
  3. Add some customer specific forecast (P3460) for the item in the supply branch, this customer should be different from the customer on the ST orders created above. Do not add any generic forecast (forecast without customer number).
  4. Run MRP - R3483 again with forecast consumption by customer enabled.
Observe that in the supply branch, forecast demand is planned correctly, but no PLOs generated for the ST order demand, which results in shortage of supply.
