E1: PKG: Web Package Rebuild Deletes Wrong Directory on Deployment Server for Similar Package Names Having Same First 9 Characters (Doc ID 3067004.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 10, 2025

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Web package rebuild deletes wrong folder on the deployment server, when having similar package names, having first 9 characters the same.
The package name convention is of 9 or 10 characters to indicate the date and multiple packages on the same day.

For example:
DVU241224 (update package 1 of day 24 month 12 year 12)
DVU241224B (update package 2 of day 24 month 12 year 12)

When, the package definition of DVU241224B is being rebuild (after change) or just deleted, the web package build application will delete the DVU241224 package (directory) instead of the DVU241224B (directory) on the deployment server.

This only happens when building packages on the web.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Build a package with 9 characters in the name - DVU241224.
2. Deploy the package to the server.
3. Check the package directory on the deployment server - DVU241224.
4. Build a package with 10 characters (starting with the same 9 characters as the previous one) - DVU241224B.
5. Deploy the package to the server.
6. Check the package directory on the deployment server - DVU241224B.
7. Change and rebuild the second package DVU241224B.
8. Check the package directory on the deployment server and you will notice the first package directory (DVU241224) has been deleted.
