E1: 17: 90CG: Case Update - P90CG501 Triggers Error ID 0003 - 'Blanks Invalid' When Editing a Case Master and the Company is a Required Field in Case Required Fields Program - P1759

Symptoms
When the field Company (Alias: CO) is set as a required field in P1759 - Case Required Fields for the Case Master Table – F1755, Call Document Type, Provider Group and Case Type and a user edits / updates a specific Case Master created for the above criteria, the system triggers error ID 0003 - 'Blanks Invalid', preventing these changes from being saved.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- P17500 – create a Case Master having the fields Case Reason, Inventory Item Number, Asset Number, Category Codes 01 and 02, Branch Plant, Responsible Business Unit etc populated.
- P1759 – Review the Required Fields defined for the specific combination of details between File Name F1755, Document Type = CL, Provider Group = e.g. 60002 and Case Type = e.g. 1.
Note the required fields: CALLRN = CaseReason, ITM = IdetifierShortItem, JC01 and JC02 (Category Codes), MCUZ = CostCenterAlternative and MMCU = CostCenter Alt. - IV: P17500 – Define P17500 and P90CG501 versions that call a version of P90CG002 - Case MBF Processing Option, which checks / validates the Case Required Fields.
- Use the P17500 version to inquire and select the previous Case Master.
- P90CG501 – Use the above version defined at step 3 to edit e.g. Call Backs (Alias: SCALL) field. Change its value to e.g. 1 and hit Save Changes button. Once the changes are saved, then take Close button and return to P17500 screen.
- P1759 – Outside of the existing Required Fields defined for the specific combination of details between File Name F1755, Document Type “CL”, Provider Group “60002” and Case Type “1”, add a new required field: CO – Company.
- Use the P17500 version defined at step 3 to inquire and select the previous Case Master.
- P90CG501 – Use the version defined at step 3 to change the value of the field Call Backs (Alias: SCALL). Upon hitting Save Changes button, the system triggers error ID 0003 - Blanks Invalid, which prevents the user from retaining the changes.
This is incorrect because the CO – Company field, which is a required field set in the P1759 / F1759, is populated correctly from the Case Master creation. This field is grayed out in the P90CG501 form and therefore, it cannot be changed or deleted.
