E1: 34: MRP (R3482 or R3483) Creates an Expedite Work Order E Type Message When The Recommended Start Date is Later and a Defer Message is Expected (Doc ID 3075277.1)

Last updated on MARCH 06, 2025

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Requirements Planning - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When there is a firm Work Order (P48013) with a Start Date earlier than when there is demand, intermittently MRP (R3482 or R3483) will create an Expedite Message (Type E) even though the Recommended Start Date is later and therefore should make it a Defer message.

Steps:
1. Observe a Work Order's Start Date (P48013).
2. Create demand (e.g., Sales Order, P4210 or Forecast, P3460) for a date beyond the Work Order's Start Date.
3. Run MRP (R3482 or R3483).
4. Review Detail Messages (P3411). Notice there is a Message Type E (Expedite) message even though MRP is suggesting a later date. This should be a Defer Message.
