Purpose
Overview
Weighted Average Cost Method 02 uses a weighted average to calculate an item's per unit average cost. The weighted average cost can be recalculated automatically on-line every time a transaction is completed, or the average cost update may be run in batch mode. Also, the programs that impact weighted average costs can be selected. The system will calculate weighted average costs whether or not the weighted average cost is used as the current sales/inventory cost method.
Weighted average cost is not designed to be used in an environment where the Inventory On Hand Quantity is allowed to go negative.
