Purpose
Overview
This document details defining a menu structure for EnterpriseOne using Tasks, Task Views and Task Relationships within Solution Explorer.
In order to understand task views, first you need to understand tasks. Tasks are units of work that you use to build essential business processes. Tasks can be interactive applications, batch applications, constants, next numbers and so on. You work with tasks in a Solution Explorer task view, which is a collection of tasks that are hierarchically grouped in parent/child relationships.
Solution Explorer is comprised of the following three modes:
Menu Design Mode
Use the Menu Design Mode to set up menus, tasks, task views, and task view roles.
Menu Filtering Mode
Use the Menu Filter Mode to enable and disable tasks users assigned a certain role can perform.
Task Launching Mode
Use the Task Launching Mode to navigate to development and administrative applications that are performed on the Windows client in EnterpriseOne using the Fast Path or using the menus.
For EnterpriseOne releases 8.10 and prior, Solution Explorer is also used to navigate to the task views and launch the business applications. However, beginning with 8.11, these applications are now launched from the Web client only.
NOTE: When working with adding, modifying, deleting tasks and task views, the recommendation is that this type of menu administration be performed using Solution Explorer on a Windows, Fat client. Therefore, this document details how to perform these steps using the Windows client.
These steps have changed with different releases of the EnterpriseOne software. This document will detail the steps at the current release (EnterpriseOne 9.0) and make every attempt to point out differences in prior releases. However, depending on your release level, some steps and screens may differ.
Scope
This document is intended for the system administrator who will be responsible for the company menu structure and will be using Solution Explorer to add, modify and delete task views, tasks and task relationships.
