Purpose

Overview

Work Centers provide the foundation for Routings (P3003), Repetitive Manufacturing and Capacity planning (R3382).  It is one of the first setup processes to support the Product Data Management, Shop Floor Control, Resource Requirements, Rough Cut and Capacity Planning Modules.  This is where users create work centers to define whether to use people or machines, determine what the queue and move times are, crew size, efficiency, utilizations, and rates (costs).  All this must be done prior to costing (Simulated (R30812) and Frozen Cost Update (R30835), Capacity Planning (CRP R3382) or creation of work orders (P48013).

Work centers become unique and reusable as each work centers is associated with a particular branch/plant. This association enables the use of the same work center defined in different branch/plants.

Files used:

F30006 - Work Center Master Table - This file contains work center information, except for the rate information, which is found in the Work Center Rates File (F30008).

F30008 - Work Center Rates Table (used with Actual Costing) - This file records the data associated with the Machine (MARS) and Labor Rate (LARS) Sources from an item's routing.   It is activated via the Branch Plant Manufacturing Constants (P3009) under the Actual Costing option when a value of '1' is entered.

The following document is additional information found in Chapter 5.1.1 Work Centers in the 9.1 Production Data Management (Mgmt) Implementation Guide via the link in Document 1109563.1.
