Purpose
Overview of AutoComplete and AutoPopulate
This information pertains to EnterpriseOne Tools Release 8.94 and above on the HTML/Web Client.
- AutoPopulate is for entry within the grid.
- AutoComplete is used for edit fields in the form header.
The AutoComplete feature in HTML forms records information entered into text fields on JD Edwards EnterpriseOne forms. Internet Explorer saves the AutoComplete information in an encrypted format for the user based on the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne form name, the input field name and URL of the HTML Web Server. The next time the user opens the form and begins typing in a text field with the same name, an AutoComplete box appears and provides the user with a list of previously used data.
The AutoPopulate feature is available beginning with the EnterpriseOne Tools Release 8.95. The purpose of AutoPopulate is to aid usability when users do repetitive data entry in the grid. At the system level, the feature is controlled by the parameter AutoPopulate in the [OWWEB] section of the JAS.INI file. When AutoPopulate is enabled within the system, then from within any application there is an option under the Tools drop down menu for AutoPopulate. This option will be checked by default. To control the AutoPopulate functionality at the user level, the user can un-select this AutoPopulate option.
This documents provides the complete differences between AutoComplete and AutoPopulate functionalities on the EnterpriseOne Web Client.
Scope
This document is intended for the Web Client Administrator and user interested in understanding the functionality of AutoComplete and AutoPopulate on the EnterpriseOne Web Client.
