E1: ODA: Unable to Use JDE ODA to Connect to an Oracle Database (Doc ID 654691.1)

Symptoms

A new ODA ODBC data source is configured to use Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Driver to connect to an Oracle 10g database instance.  When using the new data source through Microsoft Excel an error is returned:

Unable to establish connection to instance-name

 The ODBC trace logs will have the following errors:

DIAG [S1C00] [J.D. Edwards][OneWorld ODA Driver]Driver not capable. (0)
.
.
.
DIAG [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified (0)
.
.
.
DIAG [S1000] [J.D. Edwards][OneWorld ODA Driver]Unable to establish connection to <DB_Instance>. (0)

 

Note: ODBC trace logs can be enabled by following these steps:
  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
  3. Open odbcad32.exe
  4. Select the Tracing tab (take note of the log file path)
  5. Click the 'Start Tracing Now' button
  6. After the trace logs have been captured, be sure to click the 'Stop Tracing Now' button
