Purpose
Australia legislation requires payment of Payroll tax in the states and territories of Australia. The payroll tax is an employer paid tax. The tax is a self-assessed tax in which the employer is required to calculate the liability and pay the tax to the respective state or territory Office of State Revenue. Each employer must take into consideration, total Australian wages, individual state wages and applicable tax free thresholds.
