E1:90CA: Enter Opportunity in Foreign Currency

Our customer requirement is to enter an Opportunity with Foreign Currency.
I noticed that if the customer currency is other than the company's base currency then the system will generate the opportunity in the customer currency. However we have a case where we need to enter an opportunity for a customer whose currency is base currency but we need to enter the opportunity in other currency.
On the Opportunity the currency field does exist, but it is protected. please advice how to activate the currency field on the opportunity to be able to enter the opportunity in Foreign currency for a base currency customer.
