Symptoms

After applying Tools Release 8.98 Metadata kernel dies immediately. (This scenario is most apparent after upgrading from a previous Tools Release).

The following also fails:

  1. PORTTEST fails
  2. Metadata kernel lasts only a few seconds
  3. UBEs fail to run on the Enterprise Server

Metadata kernel debug log shows:
