WS: 09: Process Batch Journal Entries (P09110Z) Upload Functionality Allows Additional Lines to Existing JE (Doc ID 1938465.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 20, 2016

Applies to:

JD Edwards World General Ledger - Version A9.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The Process Batch Journal Entries (P09110Z) program will not permit the Change transaction action to update existing journal entry documents in the Account Ledger file (F0911). As long as the Batch Control Transaction Action field (VNEDTC) is set to 'A' for Add, new detail lines may be added to an existing journal entry document if the transaction Document Type (VNDCT), Document Number (VNDOC) and Document Company (KCO) for the existing journal entry has been provided. This process allows users with extremely large documents to update those existing documents with additional lines that cannot be updated manually through the online Journal Entry (P09101) program.

The Add function to update lines to existing Journal entry transactions failed in prior A7.3 cumulative updates, but was corrected in A73.15 <BUG 10864974> and in A8.1/A9x <Bug 10866512>.

When upgrading from A73.14 (or lower) to A9x, users will now be able to open and add additional detail lines to historical documents and batches. Functionality that prevented updates to existing journal entry documents is no longer working in the same manner. The Add functionality is necessary for larger documents that cannot be corrected using the Journal Entries (P09101) program, because of the limit of 9,999 detail records that can be accessed online. However, this ADD functionality may not be suitable for other types of businesses.
