Symptoms
Italy is requiring new requirements for e-invoicing. According to the new technical specifications, as of January 1 2021, the adoption of the new technical specifications (version 1.6.1) approved by Provision no. 99922/2020 of 28 February 2020 and subsequently amended by Provision no. 166579 dated 20 April 2020 for the issue of electronic invoices and variation notes will become mandatory. Therefore, from 2021 on, the Interchange System (SDI) will only accept electronic invoices and variation notes whose XML file is set up on the basis of the new XML format, which can already be used on optional basis as from 1 October 2020.
