Symptoms

In the Vertex November 2022 Update, the following changes for Arizona State Income Tax Withholding were included:

Note: Arizona has changed their tax rates, effective 1-1-23. Employees need to fill out a new A-4 and select a new tax rate. If the employee does not supply an updated A-4 by January 31, 2023, the employer must select 2% as the default rate on behalf of the employee.  For payrolls dated 2023, we will be supporting the alternate calc codes for 2022 that already exist and creating new 2023 alternate calc codes that map to the new A-4 form. Employees will need to be coded with the 2023 Alt calc codes (8, 21-27) by January 31, 2023. After January 31, 2023, if a previous code is provided, our system will default to the 2% tax rate. Also, be aware of the Pay special attention to the alternate calc code chosen when selecting between 2022 alternate calc code 19 No State A4 Filed (2.7%) and 2023 alternate calc code 28 No State A4 Filed (2%).

Leg/Reg Enhancement request to have R0701730 updated with the new codes starting 1/1/2023:

*Note - If the Alt Calc code from 1/31/2023 and prior is not changed by January 31st, 2023 to one of the new Alt Calc Code Rates,  the system will use default rate to 2%.
