Last updated on JANUARY 03, 2024

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a Pennsylvania employee is set up in Employee Entry, P0801, with a Resident tax area with 9 digits for local taxes, and a work tax area of another state, and works in 2 states in a bi-weekly pay period, the city tax, tax type M, calculates the gross pay and tax amounts incorrectly in Payroll processing, P06210.

Steps:

  1. In Employee Entry, P0801, enter a Pennsylvania employee with residence geocode = 390770235 and work geocode = 31.
  2. Enter a timecard in Time Entry, P061121, with 40 hours for the first week of the pay period to geocode 390770235 and 40 hours for the 2nd week of the pay period to geocode 31.
  3. Process Pre-Payroll, P06210.
  4. Query the Paycheck Workfile, F063501, in the payroll library (payrlxxx - xxx= payroll id).
  5. Check the calculation for 390770235, tax type M (city) gross pay and tax amount.
  6. Process payroll through Final Update, P06250.
  7. Query the Paycheck History file, F06166, for tax type M (390770235) gross and tax amounts and verify the amounts in this file differ from the Paycheck Workfile, F063501.
