WS: 07: Adding a New Employee in P0801 with one of the W-4 New Marital Status Values, A, H or J, Should not Allow Entry of Pre-2020 Value of 99 Exemptions in P060120 (Doc ID 2971811.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 01, 2023

Applies to:

JD Edwards World U.S. Payroll Processing - Version A9.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Adding a new employee in P0801, using the new W-4 code of "J" - married, is also allowing the Tax Withholding/Overrides, P060120, entry of 99 exemptions.   With the new 2020 W-4 changes, new functionality has been added to enter exemption information in a different way than 99 exemptions that was used prior to 2020.  From Tax Withholding/Overrides, a new window has been added - Employee's Withholding Certificate, P060120A.  This is the correct set up for employees hired after 2020 or for existing employees who make a change to their W-4 withholding.  Using the new functionality is not required if there is no change to the W-4 information.  However, combining pre-2020 and post 2020 set up should not be available.

STEPS:

  1. From menu G0711, choose Employee Entry, P060101 and add a new employee, using marital status code of 'J'.
  2. Use F2 to access Tax Withholding/Overrides, P060120.
  3. Enter 99 exemptions for this employee and hit enter.
  4. The change is accepted.
