Parts list substitutions can be processed in two ways:

Bills of Materials should be used for an individual component(s) when no quantity is on hand and inventory should not be driven negative.

Item Cross Reference is used universally, any time the component(s) has no quantity on hand for any parts list that will be processed.

The functionality is the same for all releases. The only change occurring is with processing options.

Following is an explanation of how each method works.

BOM administrators, IT staff, Engineering, material planners and shop floor workers benefit from this information.
