Purpose

For release A9.1 and above: Functionality exists to send a spooled file to the PC through the Import/Export program. The use of iSeries Navigator outlined in the steps below can be used instead, if desired.

For releases A7.3 and A8.1: When World Writer is used to create a physical file on the iSeries ( AS/400 ), only detail records are contained in the physical file. There is currently no way to get summary information into a physical file using World Writer. Similarly, DREAM Writer does not have an option to create a physical file. Using IBM AS400 Client Access iSeries Navigator (formerly Operations Navigator), it is possible to simply drag/drop or copy/paste a spooled file to your PC where it may be used in applications, like Word or Excel, or attached to an email.

Scope

For technical users.
