Oracle iPlanet Web Proxy Server: The number of children processes may decrease when connecting to a Directory Server through a Load Balancer which can close connections unexpectedly (Doc ID 1006539.1)

Last updated on MAY 06, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 5.1 to 5.2 SP6 [Release 5.0]
Oracle iPlanet Web Proxy Server - Version 3.6 and later
All Platforms

Symptoms

A situation may occur where the number of children processes of Sun Java[TM] System Proxy Server 3.6 (SJSPS) is decreasing when using Sun Java[TM] System Directory Server (SJSDS) for authentication. This is observed when a network device such as Firewall or Load Balancer is placed in between the SJSPS and SJSDS (and this middle man network device can terminate an existing open connection with a RST to Directory and/or Proxy servers).
