Problems starting 4.5.2 IQ viewer when registry is running/was installed on non-default port

When using a non-default port for the registry for the installation and running the registry on that port, opening the IQ Administrator will give the following error: heading is "Please try again!", message "Unable to connect to the registry! Make sure the schema is running"
