OracleXAException Thrown when Using an Oracle XA e*Way Connection (Doc ID 1027860.1)

When trying to connect an Oracle e*Way to a 8i or 9i Oracle database using XA compliant connections getting errors at runtime similar to the following in the log file:

JCCollabControllerImpl (translate) Error in executing translate method
StackTrace: oracle.jdbc.xa.OracleXAException
at oracle.jdbc.xa.OracleXAResource.checkError(
And the following error in the stderr file:
PLS-00201: identifier 'JAVA_XA.XA_START' must be declared
