Trying to run egate monitor 453 on Compaq nx9600 laptop: monitor freezes all the interfaces

The Monitor is launched and logged into the schema. After about 10 minutes of running, and error is encountered "Lost Connection to Control Broker". After that the system freezes when trying to re-establish the connection, generating a blank error title box, causing the system to lock up. This is using a Compaq nx9600 laptop.
