SRE 5.0.5 e*Xchange schema installation: Unable to reset registry untility logs

Having the SRE 5.0.5 e*Gate registry host, participating host installed on unix box, the user installs the SRE 5.0.5 e*Xchange e*Gate schema on the window box (which does not have the e*Gate GUI installed) and gets the following error:
"Unable to reset registry utility log. Please stop e*Xchange registry utility programs before proceeding with installation."
