OID oidldapd01Sxxx.log File Contains Numerous "BAD fd's are in the select list" (Doc ID 1050870.1)

Symptoms

After starting OID, unable to successfully bind to Oracle Internet Directory (OID):

ldapbind -h <oid-hostname> -p <oid-port>
Cannot connect to Server

Or,

Cannot connect to LDAP Server

The oidldapd01sxxx.log file shows numerous error messages:

BAD fd's are in the select list

No related errors are shown in the EventViewer or the alert.log.

The issue first occurred after bouncing the OID host-server operating system (when trying to rectify a slow performance issue).
