"Content Item Was Not Successfully Checked In. System Needs Login Authentication Credentials" Error When Checking in Content Item (Doc ID 1051457.1)

When a valid user clicks the Check In New link, fills out the metadata, and then clicks "Submit," the following error is received:

Content item 'test' was not successfully checked in. System needs login authentication credentials.

When this error occurs a java exception gets generated:
