A Demonstration On Data Affinity Within a Coherence Cluster (Doc ID 1052174.1)

Last updated on MARCH 12, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Coherence - Version 3.3.0 to 3.7.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Data affinity describes the concept of ensuring that a group of related cache entries is contained within a single cache partition. This ensures that all relevant data is managed on a single primary cache node (without compromising fault-tolerance). In this demo we will use the username schema DEPT/EMP tables showing how we set up Data Affinity in Coherence using a relationship as follows:

  (Dept -> Emp)

A number of standard Coherence operations can benefit from affinity, including cache queries, InvocableMap operations, and the getAll/putAll/removeAll methods.
