OVD 11g ODSM Returns Error If ForkJoin Plugin's "Full Outer Join" Value Is Blank / If "Full Outer Join" Is Set To "True" The Join Fails And Secondary Adapter Entries Are Not Returned (Doc ID 1060952.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 30, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 11.1.1.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11gR1 (11.1.1.1.0) or 11gR1PS1 (11.1.1.2.0).

Using the ForkJoin plugin.  As the documentation does not mention what values the "Full Outer Join" parameter is expecting, if left blank, Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) returns an error, indicating that parameter must be set.

If setting, for example, "cn,uid" for the value of "Full Outer Join", the plugin saves without errors but the secondary adapter does not return the expected entries.

Next tried setting FullOuterJoin value to "true," however, although now able to get entries returned from both adapters, it seems to have killed the join condition - having a user in both directories and expecting these to be joined, they now are being returned as separate entries.  In other words, the use case is for the following users returned:
    1. Users in AD1 with no corresponding entry in AD2
    2. Users that are in AD1 and AD2 Joined (uid=uid)
    3. Users that are not in AD1 but are in AD2
After setting the FullOuterJoin to "true," now getting items 1 and 3 above ok, but for item 2 the entries are either being returned separately or not getting the entries from the secondary adapter returned at all.
