How To Assign Scheduled Jobs To a Service That Can Be Guaranteed To Be Started After The Control Center Service Is Started (Doc ID 1063887.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 30, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Warehouse Builder - Version 10.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) Schedules are deployed to the Oracle DBMS_SCHEDULER, which will make calls to the OWB Control Center Service to initiate the ETL activity.

If there is a database outage for a period of time, there is a possibility that the DBMS_SCHEDULER will start to call jobs that should have started during the outage period, before the Control Center Service can be started. In this case the ETL will fail.

Assigning the scheduled task to a Service that can be started manually after the Control Center Service has started will ensure that the Control Center Service is available for the delayed schedules.
