How to access DB2 DB using DataDirect drivers ?

The Data Direct drivers "DataDirect36sp2_build30" downloaded from OTN fails to connect to DB2.
The following message is thrown when testing the connection using OracleAS 10.1.3.x ASConsole.

[oias][DB2 JDBC Driver]Failed to access database <DB2name>.
