Information in this document applies to any platform.
ALUI 6.5, including the latest release of WCI (10.3.3.0.0) and higher handles click-throughs to items in the Knowledge Directory differently than in previous versions. A 'content-disposition' header is now set with value 'attachment' which causes browsers to prompt users to make sure they really want to download the linked resource. This was done to bring the WCI product more in line with W3C standards.
This article describes how to use Publisher Announcement portlets to circumvent the 'Save/Download/Cancel' dialogue box displayed when clicking on items in the KD. This method does not affect the underpinning of how the KD handles document click-throughs. Rather, it provides an alternate way of using Publisher portlets to link to items in the KD and have them open automatically upon click-through. For a more in-depth method of altering the KD behavior to mimic that of 6.1 and earlier portals, please see <Note 971003.1>.
