Goal

We are often asked about how to use WebLogic Server (WLS) license files (usually called license.bea). This document brings together links for various issues related to licensing.

NOTE: Please note that licenses are only needed for WLS versions 10.0.x and lower: WLS 10.3.0 and above do not need them.

Even for WLS 10.0.x and lower, Oracle no longer requires your IP address(es) in order to provide a license key. Oracle is now providing new generic license files that simplify the licensing process. Your new license keys will enable you to fully use all of the features of your WLS purchase.
