After Installing FMW 11G the Windows Service Fails to Start opmn.exe With Error 1053 (Doc ID 1076426.1)

Symptoms

This note applies to any installation of Oracle FMW 11g containing OPMN-managed system components such as Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle Internet Directory, etc. on Windows platforms.

After installation, it is possible to start OPMN and all OPMN-managed components from the command line using:

>opmnctl startall


However, when an attempt is made to start the same system components from the Windows Service, the service fails to start the OPMN process itself.

The failure occurs instantaneously and the following error is displayed in a pop-up window:


Could not start the Oracle Process Manager (ohs1) service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.


where 'ohs1' is the instance name.

- The same error occurs if a new Windows Service is created, which calls opmnctl -S.
