WebLogic Server (WLS) Admin Console Frozen: Unable to Change Configuration

After logging into the WebLogic Server (WLS) Admin Console, the configuration has frozen, preventing any changes. Both the "Lock and Edit" and "Release Configuration" buttons have become gray ("grayed out").
On further testing, it proved that this occurred only when using one browser (in this case, Microsoft Internet Explorer). When using another browser (in this case, Mozilla Firefox), the Admin Console appeared and acted normally.
