Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The WebCenter Analytics Administrators Guide explains the visit timeout runtime setting as:
"Type the maximum number of seconds that a user must remain inactive during a portal visit in order for Oracle WebCenter Analytics to report subsequent activity as a new portal visit. The default is 120 seconds. Note: If you upgraded to Oracle WebCenter Analytics 10.3 from a previous version, the Visit Timeout default setting from the previous Oracle WebCenter Analytics version remains. For example, if you upgraded from Analytics 2.1, the default Visit Timeout is 600 seconds, since that was the default in Analytics 2.1."

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23010_01/wci.1034/e14112/administration.htm#i1076936

This information is incorrect. While it is true that an upgrade will not modify the setting, the default setting in Analytics 2.1 was 120 seconds (2 minutes) and the default setting in Analytics 10.3.0.1 is 1800 seconds (30 minutes). The visit timeout setting affects duration reports, visit reports of community traffic, top entry and exit pages and abandoned searches.
