External Variable cannot be Created During the Project Deployment, 'CannotUpdateEngineExternalVariablesException' (Doc ID 1088323.1)

Last updated on MARCH 15, 2019

Oracle Business Process Management Suite - Version 6.0.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

In process administrator, while publishing a project containing a project variable (e.g. testDate) of type Time, the following error can be seen in webconsole.log:

[ (cont) ] Main: fuego.mami.exception.CannotUpdateEngineExternalVariablesException: Error(s) found while creating external variables for the following engines:
[ (cont) ] Main: engine: The project variable (testDate) needs to be created as a column in the Execution Engine Database. The associated variable (testDate) is already created and exists in the Execution Engine DB with the name (V_testDate) but with a different type (DATE), required (Time). It looks like the variable type was changed in this latest version of the project. For this reason, the variable cannot be created. You can either drop the column (V_testDate) in the Execution Engine and run the publish action again or change the variable name in your project.
