Forms Builder Crashes and FRMXML2F Returns Invalid Value Error (Doc ID 1088846.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 31, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Forms - Version: 10.1.2 and later   [Release: 10.1.2 and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

A problematic Form sometimes causes the Forms Builder to crash when compiling it.
When FRMF2XML.bat is used to convert it from FMB to XML, the conversion is completed and the XML file is generated successfully.
But when trying to use FRMXML2F.bat to convert it back to FMB, the conversion does not complete and no FMB file is generated, as validation error(s) is returned:

file:/c:/temp/myform.xml<Line 157, Column 1159>: XML-24523: (Error) Invalid value '127' for attribute: 'DataType'

In the XML file, the validation errors are for Push Button, as the XML file contains DataType="127" only when ItemType="Push Button".

Why does this happen? And what can be done to get this fixed?
