The WebCenter Analytics Collector component includes a feature to buffer events received from products like WebCenter Interaction portal before it writes them to the database. One thread in the application receives each event message from the network and adds it into the buffer while another thread removes it from the buffer as is writes the information to the database. Environments that experience periodic spikes of high event load (greater than 150 events per second), brief network or database outages or heavy database utilization during the monthly Analytics database table partitioning operation may need to increase the size of the event buffer to accommodate more messages. If the event buffer fills, new events are deleted until the thread writing to the database removes more events from the buffer. This articles explains how to manage the Analytics collector event buffer.
