Symptoms

In Weblogic Portal 10.2 MP1 (that is, WLP 10.2.1 with WLS 10.0.2), one is able to build an ear and deploy it outside of Workshop (i.e., via the admin console) successfully. However, deploying it from inside Workshop fails with an error in weblogic.xml:
