Cannot Uninstall FMW 11g AS Instance Managed by WebLogic Domain Using OUI If Domain No Longer Exists (Doc ID 1112394.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 02, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Middleware - Version 11.1.1.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The objective is to deinstall / remove a FMW 11g AS Instance featuring a product which has system ( OPMN managed) components as well as java components and/or an association with a WebLogic Domain. For example:

The WebLogic Domain has already removed, and now an attempt is made to uninstall / deinstall / remove the remaining system components - the AS Instance - using the Oracle Universal Installer.

The Installer offers two deinstall options

The first option does not work because the Installer assumes a "Managed Instance" will have an associated WebLogic Domain. The second screen presented when choosing this option is

"Specify WebLogic Domain Detail Screen"

You cannot specify the details because the WebLogic Domain no longer exists, and therefore you can proceed no further.

The other option "deinstall unmanaged instances" also does not work because after entering the Instance location in the "Specify Instance Location Screen", the Installer reports that the Instance is managed (even though its associated WebLogic Domain has been removed).

How is it possible, then, to remove the AS Instance?
