After Changing WebCenter Content: Imaging LDAP Providers, Users Are Not Picking Up Correct Rights or Permissions When Logging In (Doc ID 1132123.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 21, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content: Imaging - Version 11.1.1.3.0 and later
Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.9.0 to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Users logging into WebCenter Content: Imaging are not picking up the expected permissions or rights, such as administrative rights, and are receiving basic user roles within the interface.

This may manifest itself as seeing an empty pane on the left of the screen after logging in, sometimes with just the "Searches" banner showing, similar to the screenshot below:

Note: It is important to understand the distinction between authentication and authorization. Authentication is the mechanism by which a system determines if a user is who they say they are, normally by way of validating a password, and then providing access to the system. The symptoms described in this note, whereby a user is able to authenticate (log in), but receives incorrect rights once successfully authenticated, indicate a problem with authorization - the mechanism by which a system determines what level of access a particular authenticated user should have.

The solution described here will not help with authentication problems. For authentication problems, Document 1303199.1 may be of help.

Changes

The LDAP provider may have recently been changed.
