How to create unique MVS jobnames for Oracle GoldenGate processes

(Doc ID 1136513.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 13, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle GoldenGate - Version: 9.0.0.0 and later   [Release: 9.0.0 and later ]
IBM z/OS on System z

Goal

Create a shell script that uniquely identifies Oracle GoldenGate processes and MVS jobs that can be monitored from MVS utilities.

When the Oracle GoldenGate manager process receives the START command it will invoke the lowercase shell script. The shell script sets the Unix Systems Services (USS) environment variable _BPX_JOBNAME to the extract group name.  Then the shell script group name. Then the shell script invokes the uppercase binary assigning the group name as a MVS JOBNAME

This unique JOBNAME can be monitored by MVS job monitoring tools and is displayed in the MVS system log.
