Purpose

The purpose of this reference document is to propose a top-down approach to get from a symptom experienced at the level of the ORACLE JRockit Java Virtual Machine (or JVM, in short) to the source of the issue.
This document simply references other notes in which a detailed approach for each category of issues is explained and where examples of application are available.

Scope

The intended audiences of this document are the production people, using the ORACLE JRockit JVM, and experiencing issues affecting the JVM. Typical production issues such as OutOfMemoryError, StackOverflowError, JVM core dumps, hanging JVM, wrong computation, and others, are explained, and a troubleshooting approach is proposed, and then workarounds are put forward as temporary measures where applicable.
