In a heavily used instance of WCC server, the Vault and Weblayout directories are reaching capacity.

How can these top level directories be broken up into sub-directories, and/or spread over multiple volumes, and are there any recommended best practices to doing this?
What needs to be done on the server side, and are there any limitations or problems we need to be aware of?
